A Summit County Colorado listing for a great family house in Silverthorne

A four bedroom home near the town of Silverthorne and the Ski area resorts

SNOW HAS FINALLY HIT THE HIGH COUNTRY!!!

The ski areas have opened, some top to bottom.  If you can't stand not having a first or second home here in Summit County for another season, I have a great house for you.

This exclusive cedar and stone house is up the winding Ryan Gulch road in the Wildernest neighborhood.  Wildernest is know for it's multi-family groups of condos and town homes, but as you climb to the road's apex, a select group of single family homes sit tucked into the forest.   As the road nears the house, Summit County's iconic Buffalo Mountain appears to grow from the tree tops; this rounded dome of weather-sculpted rock caps the southern end of the Gore Range, a fantastic set of craggy spires that stretch into 13,000+ foot peaks, dotted with alpine lakes, colorful wildflowers and stunning views.  It is good to note that this range comprises the Eagles Nest Wilderness, so it is protected against motorized traffic of any kind.  Buffalo is the Mountain on the left.

For a mountain home to be ideal, it should be nestled on the edge of a mountain, have plenty of privacy, and be conveniently located in case you forget the eggnog and need to run back into town.  It should have decks- lots of them, storage, plenty of room, a great kitchen to entertain and cook in, a place to get away from company, a way to separate children and adults, a classic feel, lots of sunlight and a private hot tub.  This house has all that (hot tub negotiable); all that without having to drive on a dirt road.

Two wooden steps up and you'll find yourself on a weather-protected porch; open the door and you are in a wide hall with a small parlor (currently an artist's studio) to the left and a great room straight ahead.  The room is dominated by windows and trees.

Situated perfectly, the home is close enough to the trail heads at the base of Buffalo Mountain that you can walk from the front door to the trail.  There is no need to drive to get into the woods for a little exercise and wildlife viewing.  In fact, the current owners have had moose, deer, foxes, and a variety of other wildlife out their back door.  The property's eastern edge is wetlands; Buffalo on one side and wetlands on the other make it pretty easy to get the privacy a mountain home should have.

The floor is warm with radiant heat.  Alder woodwork trims the views through the windows.  The kitchen is large, has granite-tiled counter tops, and upscale appliances.  Paramount is the long island centralized to keep the other cooks at bay so they don't spoil your stew.  With a window-lined dining room attached, making great looking meals is beyond easy, it might actually be fun.

r Some of the features:

3,717 square feet, 4 bedrooms with a main floor master, HOA fees are $205 a quarter and includes insurance, management, snow and trash removal.  It has a 16" thick poured-in-place concrete foundation, making the house quiet and solid feeling.  The lot is a quarter acre. It has 4 decks, a study or media room downstairs.  The family room has room enough for a pool table.

Did I say decks?

How Close is it?

8 minutes drive to a gas station, 2 minutes to walk to a trail head, 10 minutes to drive to: a recreation center, outlet malls and restaurants, the Silverthorne Pavilion where there are concerts and shows.  Another 10 to 30 minutes gets you to the 5 world class downhill ski areas, two cross country areas, two marinas, golf courses, two tubing hills, a google of hiking trails, snowmobiling, baseball fields, two skateboards parks, two Frisbee golf courses, three brewery's, a senior center, an outdoor amphitheatre on the edge of Lake Dillon where they run free concerts in the Summer.  Lets just say it's real close to paradise.

Warm regards,

Jason Brewer
