And some snowbirds are only here for the summer

I know Summit County is popular for winter sports. Lord knows, we grow from 26,000 year-round population to 120,000-150,000 on winter weekends and holidays. Summers are not as busy.

But, they're getting busier. Consider our climate. Dry, with highs of about 80 degrees in the summer, lows of about 20 degrees in the winter. So, winter lows are not so cold, summer highs not so hot. In fact, it gets about 20 degrees hotter during the summer in Denver, and residents there (and throughout the Front Range cities) flock to the mountains for a respite.

So, it makes sense that residents of, say, Phoenix or Tucson, have their summer homes here rather than their winter homes. They may or not be skiers, but they certainly know where to get away from the heat. And they get to enjoy all that makes summer so wonderful here. There are a myriad of activities going on constantly, especially on the weekends, and it's always a tough decision whether to head to Breckenridge or Keystone or Frisco or Dillon or Silverthorne or Copper Mountain to be entertained, enjoy fabulous food, or recreate.

But we have other summer visitors, as well. Thousands (perhaps millions) of birds head south in the winter and return in the spring. Some of the most beautiful are the osprey, predators who are sized somewhere between a hawk and an eagle. They generally hunt fish, and I've often watched the next near our home as the parents bring fish from the Blue River to their young in the nest. I hope that you come visit us in the summer (my favorite time of year). Look me up. I'll show you our osprey.

If you have an interest in purchasing property in Summit County, please visit our website. All the property listings are there. When you live or visit here, you will know "Snow Place Like Home".
