I've been interviewed a bit lately, reporters wanting to know "why Summit County?" or "why are so many people buying there?"  So, I thought I'd share my thoughts - how best to answer the question – what makes <place w:st="on" /><placename w:st="on" />Summit</placename /> <placetype w:st="on" />County</placetype /></place /> so hot?  Well, no place else on earth offers the same mix of features, amenities and attractions that we do.  Consider:<ul style="MARGIN-TOP: 0in" type="disc"><li class="MsoNormal" style="COLOR: navy; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo3">We offer 4 ski resorts with 3 different owners on 9 peaks.  The owners of the Breckenridge, Keystone, <placename w:st="on" />Copper</placename /> <placetype w:st="on" />Mountain</placetype /> and <place w:st="on" /><placename w:st="on" />Arapahoe</placename /> <placetype w:st="on" />Basin</placetype /></place /> ski resorts will generously support hosting the Symposium here.  Our skiing is included in the best in the world. </li><li class="MsoNormal" style="COLOR: navy; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo3">We have the highest fresh water sailing lake in North America, <place w:st="on" /><placetype w:st="on" />Lake</placetype /> <placename w:st="on" />Dillon</placename /></place />.</li><li class="MsoNormal" style="COLOR: navy; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo3">We offer 6 significant communities, each with a different character – <place w:st="on" /><placename w:st="on" />Copper</placename /> <placetype w:st="on" />Mountain</placetype /></place />, Keystone, Breckenridge, Dillon, Frisco and Silverthorne.</li><li class="MsoNormal" style="COLOR: navy; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo3">We have a very active arts community, with two theatre companies – the <place w:st="on" /><placename w:st="on" />Dillon</placename /> <placename w:st="on" />Center</placename /></place /> for the Performing Arts and the Backstage Theatre – along with the Breckenridge Music Institute, the National Repertory Orchestra, and various other entertainment venues.</li><li class="MsoNormal" style="COLOR: navy; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo3">We have a wide variety of nice restaurants for every pocketbook, and even the high-end establishments compare well cost-wise with restaurants in major metropolitan areas.  </li><li class="MsoNormal" style="COLOR: navy; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo3">We have three major mountain ranges within the County, and touch others.  We have three peaks over 14,000 feet.</li><li class="MsoNormal" style="COLOR: navy; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo3">Our hiking, mountain climbing and other outdoor activities offer more panoramic choices within a 15 mile radius than any other place in this country that you could name.  </li><li class="MsoNormal" style="COLOR: navy; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo3">Our real estate prices are just about the most affordable of any Rocky Mountain Ski Resort (I think the only exceptions might be Winter Park, CO and McCall, ID – but neither of those have the additional amenities to back up their allure). </li><li class="MsoNormal" style="COLOR: navy; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo3">Our access to <city w:st="on" />Denver</city /> and <place w:st="on" /><placename w:st="on" />Denver</placename /> <placename w:st="on" />International</placename /> <placetype w:st="on" />Airport</placetype /></place /> is relatively an easy commute, and shuttle services can eliminate the need for car rental or driving.  Flights to and from DIA will be relatively inexpensive compared to flying into other mountain resorts.  While Vail and <city w:st="on" /><place w:st="on" />Aspen</place /></city /> have general aviation airports closer, prices will be much higher, and the list of communities served across the country much smaller.  We are the closest MAJOR resort to most of the Front Range communities in <state w:st="on" /><place w:st="on" />Colorado</place /></state />.</li><li class="MsoNormal" style="COLOR: navy; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo3">Our climate is temperate.  It rarely gets below 20 degrees in the winter or above 80 in the summer.  This also makes our summers almost as popular as our winters.  When temperatures rise to 100 in <city w:st="on" />Denver</city /> and the Front Range (communities on the east side of the Rocky Mountains, from <city w:st="on" />Fort Collins</city /> at the north to Walsenberg on the South), people flood to <place w:st="on" /><placename w:st="on" />Summit</placename /> <placetype w:st="on" />County</placetype /></place />.  The dry weather makes you feel less cold in the winter and less hot in the summer.  </li><li class="MsoNormal" style="COLOR: navy; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo3">We truly are “The Summit”.  Here, people live at 10,000 feet and consider that normal.  You can literally touch the mountains that provide water for about half the country.  Our snowmelt fills rivers and streams on both sides of the Continental Divide.  </li><li class="MsoNormal" style="COLOR: navy; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo3">We offer slopeside living (for those who want to be in the action) as well as nearby living for those who, perhaps, want more for their money, but still have access to the slopes.</li><li class="MsoNormal" style="COLOR: navy;
