| May 16, 2007 | | Southern Utah and Moab are short trips for a break from Paradise |
When the ski and snowboard season dies down, Summit Country residents look to vacation and that almost always involves a jaunt to southern Utah. Moab is a favorite that is tucked between Arches and Canyonlands National Park, and offers spectacular dessert sandstone trails with five short hours of driving. When properly prepared for the ride, the Porcupine Rim Trail, Bartletts Wash, and The Kokopelli are life soothing experiences. South of the hustle of Moab are more secluded spots like Natural Bridges National Monument, The Paria Primative area, Valley of the Gods and the Goosenecks of the San Juan appeal to day and overnight hikers and backpackers. It's another reason why we love living in Ski country USA; we can ski in the morning and bike the smooth desert buttes and washes of Utah in the afternoon. | |
