It's perhaps a little known fact. Idaho Springs is full of restaurants. When traffic gets too crowded on I-70, particularly when headed up the hill to ski on a Friday, or down the hill on Sunday afternoon, thousands of people get off at Idaho Springs, 30 minutes down the mountain from Summit County (Dillon, Silverthorne and Frisco), to take a meal. It's also 30 minutes from downtown Denver. Until about a year ago, the pickings have been fairly basic - pizza, hamburgers, a micro-brewery. However, the three main restaurants in town gross between $2.5 million and $3.1 million annually - numbers that are enviable even to very good restaurants in metropolitan areas. Last July, a high end Italian restaurant opened its doors. Mangia Trattoria has quickly developed a stellar reputation and a loyal following. It will finish its first year in business at about $650k in sales. And it is for sale. You can see a slide show here. The owner is interested in helping revitalize the town and this will be the second restaurant he has opened and sold. The building it is housed in is also for sale. In addition, one of the older mainstay restaurants in town is also for sale - called Main Street, A Restaurant. Great breakfasts and lunches, ill health is forcing this sale. If you've got a hankering to get away from the rush of the city, slow down and get to know your neighbors, this may be just the small business for you. Check it out here. And here is a look inside. Who knows? You could be responsible for calming many of those drivers, and making friends at the same time. __________________________________________ Want to buy or sell a SnowHome in Summit County?
