Even in Summit County, national legislation can have a negative impact.

OK, let's say you own a SnowHome in Summit County. You've seen it's value increase annually, and you understand this is a hot market. What if all that were to evaporate?

You may never get involved in political issues – or you may. But most of you do own homes, and this affects you personally. The home interest rate deduction has been the cornerstone of home ownership in this country. Among other things, it has helped make home ownership affordable for the largest percentage of the population of any country in the world.

However, in the interest of simplifying the tax code, the president’s tax panel is recommending a drastic change in your home interest deduction. The president of the National Association of Realtors postulates that this could reduce home values by 15%. Read the full story here.
