| April 30, 2005 | | Late Spring snows have people laughing, crying. | Go anywhere in Summit County these days - especially following a week of almost continuous snow - and you'll get mixed reactions. Most probably would be happier if winter would just get over, and we could enjoy those marvelous Springs that we are so known for. After all, it's time to break out the hiking boots and bicycles. But, we've really needed to break the drought cycle, and many are just plain thankful that we are getting more moisture in whatever form. But, frankly, snow is better in the long term. It stays on the high peaks, melts slowly, and keep our rivers and streams running throughout the year. If we were getting rain, it would already be in Denver or somewhere in Utah. It is sort of amusing, though, to see headlines heralding school closings, or at least later openings. But, hey, it's Colorado. It's high country. Anything is possible. Come enjoy it, anyway. | |
