| September 16, 2006 | | The new Materials Recovery Facility is on line. | We're talking about savings. Where the Summit Recycling Center used to earn $30 a ton for plastics, it now earns $80. When it used to earn $600 a ton for aluminum, it now gets $1,000. That is because the new Materials Recycling Facility, built near Keystone, has two very large balers. The ability to make large bales of recyclable material means that the facility can sell directly to mills instead of going through a middle man. That's good in several ways. More money means more ability to handle used materials. It also means materials can be mixed more, making it easier for us consumers to dispose of our waste into recycling instead of simple garbage. __________________________________________ Want to buy or sell a SnowHome in Summit County?
